The verse in Hebrews is in no way saying that we shouldn't come together...in fact it is saying that we should. The meaning that I am trying to draw attention to is the fact that people shouldnt forsake of the assembling together and returning to a former lifestyle as a result of persecution. It is appropriate to use this verse when dealing with people who are leaving the church in order to return to a life of sin becuase of pressure or ridicule. It can not be used to try and prove that people need to be in church everytime the doors are open. (again, I'm not saying we shouldnt be faithful to our churches....we should, but this verse cant be used to prove that.) Assembling is coming together. I was reading this yesterday and I kinda got what you were saying about the verse, ''forsake not the assembling of ourselves'' except how do you explain that one part. assembling is coming together. right?
